Associate Counselor - Per Diem - Part-Time Relief

Role: Associate Counselor - Per Diem 
Term: Part-time
Location:  Onsite in Wellsville, NY (Community Residences & Treatment Apartment Programs).
Travel:  Candidates must have clean, valid license for company vehicle use.  May require use of personal vehicle for travel from site-to-site (mileage reimbursed). 
Work Schedule:  NO SET SCHEDULE:  Need to be readily available and flexible to cover call ins for the following shifts when needed:
                               4:00 pm to 10:00 pm,
                               or 12:00 am to 8:00 pm,
                               or weekends 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm      
Compensation: 
 starting at $17.37 Per Hour

*Candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check through the NYS Office of Mental Health. 

Responsibilities: 

This individual will perform direct care work with our residents teaching adult daily living skills and supervising residents in agency community residence or apartment program.  Specific duties include performing daily household tasks, providing supportive counseling to residents and connect residents with related therapeutic services to people suffering with mental illness.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education, Experience, and Knowledge

  • High School/GED diploma or equivalent required.  Associates degree in Human Services and/or one year experience working with people with mental illness preferred. 
  • Prefer a working knowledge of current issues and concerns of people with mental illness, rehabilitative training methods, and community resources.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Compassion, sensitivity and understanding for individuals suffering from mental illness and substance abuse.
  • Professional demeaner
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
  • Be able to travel to and among various facilities that are multileveled with stairs only.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. May be required to use personal vehicle for programmatic purposes.
  • Must pass criminal background checks  required my NYS Office of Mental Health, NYS OMIG, and other regulatory agencies.
